Welcome to our community site, the goal of this project is to create a knowledge hub for everyone who is interested in improving task based search and to participate and collaborate together.

The Search-Logger Project

The project was initiated at the university of Tartu in Estonia by Georg Singer and Dr. Ulrich Norbisrath in autumn 2009. Initially they were frustrated by the shortcomings of today's search engines when having task based search needs like planning a holiday trip or learning the most important stuff about France. To measure what was going wrong during task based searches they started developing a Firefox browser plug-in. This plug-in can be installed in any Firefox browser and logs all important events during a search task.
  • Queries
  • Opening and closing of tabs
  • what links where clicked etc. etc.
You will then be provided with all the necessary material to install Search-Logger and run experiments with it.
